PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
Annually, the Chair of the Board of Supervisors recommends Board Member appointments to Board Standing Committees.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
Pursuant to Rule No. 4 and Rule No. 30 of the Rules of Procedure of the Board of Supervisors, the Chair shall appoint annual standing committees. From 2011-2015 no referrals were made, and the standing committees did not meet. On January 5, 2016, the Board of Supervisors approved formation of the standing committees for 2016. On August 16, 2016, the Board of Supervisors made a directive to change the name of the Criminal Justice Committee to the Public Safety Committee, to take effect in 2017. On December 20, 2016, the Board of Supervisors reported out on the 2016 standing committee referrals and made referrals for the 2017 standing committees, pending their formation. On January 10, 2017, the Board directed that the four committees be condensed into two, thereby creating the Public Health, Safety and Resources Committee; and General Government Committee. On September 12, 2023, the Board of Supervisors disbanded the Public Health, Safety, and Resources Committee and the Economic Development Committee that was formed earlier in 2023.
