RECOMMENDED ACTION/MOTION:

Accept the Final Camping Transient Occupancy Tax Allocation for Fiscal Year 2022-23, as proposed by the Mendocino County Fire Chiefs Association, in the amount of $128,225.48 (see Attachment A); and appropriate $128,225.48 in Fund 1240, Org Code FSC; and authorize the Chief Executive Officer or Designee to negotiate and enter into agreements with Fire Agencies, not to exceed the amounts appropriated.

PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
The Board previously approved the allocation of $420,000 at the regular Board Meeting on May 9, 2023.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
In the March 3, 2020, election, Mendocino County voters passed Measure D, imposing a transient occupancy tax on campers. In that same election, advisory Measure E was passed, advising that 75% of the tax be distributed evenly to the recognized fire agencies of Mendocino County and 25% to be spent based on the recommendation of the fire chiefs of the recognized fire agencies in Mendocino County. The Mendocino County Fire Chiefs Association requests that 25% of the allocation be retained and that 75% be evenly distributed (see Attachment A) to the recognized fire agencies in Mendocino County for Fiscal Year 2022-23.
