Summary of Request:
The Superior Regional Workforce Education and Training Program is a collaborative effort between Superior Region counties and the California Mental Health Services Authority to deliver workforce education, training, and retention services for mental health provider staff. This partnership offers a range of initiatives, including educational scholarships (such as peer certification), loan repayment plans, and staff retention programs, to strengthen and sustain the mental health workforce.
Mendocino County previously paid an opt-in fee of $67,120.72 under PA 22-134 on July 28, 2021 to participate in this collaboration. These funds were matched, making additional resources available for disbursement through various programs supporting mental health service providers in Mendocino County.
BHRS is requesting approval from the Board of Supervisors to accept this revenue agreement in the amount of $212,910.86 from the California Mental Health Services Authority. These unspent funds, originally allocated for the Superior Regional Workforce Education and Training Partnership, are being returned due to lower-than-expected utilization for the Loan Repayment Program among local providers. Accepting this agreement will enable Mendocino County to use the returned funds for Culture Shift activities and to update staff technology-such as replacing aging desktops with laptops and addressing other critical technology needs.
