Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
On February 27, 2024, the Board of Supervisors authorized the creation of the Capital Improvement Project to Complete the Renovations for Evidence Storage for Law Enforcement. On April 23, 2024, the Board of Supervisors approved the agreement with Nichols Melburg & Rosetto for design and engineering services for the project with a term through June 30, 2025. On June 6, 2025 the Board of Supervisors authorized the award of the construction project to Coastal Mountain Electric.
Summary of Request:
In February of 2024 the board approved the Renovations for Evidence Storage for Law Enforcement project, and awarded design contract to NM&R in April of the same year with a term through June 30, 2025. After consulting with the department, they proposed several options and cost estimates and on December 18, 2024 NM&R was provided direction to proceed with permit and construction drawings. The County prepared bid documents and issued an invitation to bid on April 29, 2025, opened bids on May 22, 2025 and subsequently issued a contract to Coastal Mountain Electric on June 3, 2025. The Nichols Melburg & Rosetto contract includes responsibilities through the construction period and their contract term needs to be extended through the completion of construction. The term is extended through December 5 to permit completion of the project, final reviews and any further project delays. No additional compensation is required to complete the agreement. The first amendment was made retroactive as there was an oversight on the expiration date of the contract when the project went out to bid.
Alternative Action/Motion:
Do not approve the Amendment and provide direction to staff.
