August 17, 2021, Item 4(f), acceptance of prioritized spend for projects utilizing PG&E Disaster Settlement Funds, including approval to award $1,040,000 to Mendocino County Resource Conservation District, including $40,000 for California Environmental Quality Act Requirements investments for four watershed restoration projects, $10,000 each.

Summary of Request

On August 17, 2021, the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors (BOS) approved a Prioritized Spend related to projects for strategically investing one-time Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) disaster settlement funds, and authorized the Assistant Chief Executive Officer to prepare and bring forward the necessary contracts for distribution of funds to non-county agencies. Through the Prioritized Spend, the BOS approved three separate contracts with Mendocino County Resource Conservation District, using a total of $1,040,000 of PG&E disaster settlement funds. The proposed contract with Mendocino County Resource Conservation District in the amount of $40,000 is for California Environmental Quality Act Requirements (CEQA) investments for four watershed restoration projects.

Pursuant to the proposed Agreement, Mendocino County Resource Conservation District will utilize funding to address prerequisite rare plant and archaeological surveys in order to meet CEQA requirements for at least four watershed restoration project sites in Mendocino County where initial work has already been completed. Addressing these surveys will help mitigate the effects of disaster in the watershed sites while enhancing the County’s resilience to disaster in those areas.
