Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
On July 11, 2023, Board of Supervisors approved Agreement 23-116 with Kirk Gorman, Attorney at Law, in the amount of $132,000 to provide part-time child support attorney services to Child Support Services, effective July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024.
Summary of Request:
Child Support Services requires specialized professional attorney services to complete the work of obtaining and enforcing court-ordered child support as mandated by Title IV-D of the Social Security Act. Based upon current case load size, the professional attorney work can be completed within 10 hours per week.
Child Support Services requests Board approval of the Agreement with Kirk Gorman, Attorney at Law, to provide professional child support attorney services between July 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025. Kirk Gorman is a subject matter expert and will serve as the department’s attorney of record in all matters filed in relation to the establishment, enforcement, or modification of child support orders.
Child Support Services’ weekly court day moved from Monday to Thursday mid-year 2024, requiring an increase to FY2425 contract expense to reflect holiday schedules of Mendocino County and Mendocino County Superior Court.
Mendocino County Child Support Services is funded by federal and state child support revenue. There is no cost to the General Fund.
