Summary of Request:
In July of 2015, Mendocino County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) issued a Request for Qualifications for local community-based organizations interested in providing CalFresh outreach services and activities specifically designed to promote participation in CalFresh by seniors, working families, and those living in geographically isolated communities. Additional goals of the project are to promote CalFresh participation through activities designed to encourage healthy eating on a budget, and to dispel myths and misconceptions about CalFresh through activities such as the CalFresh Challenge. North Coast Opportunities was one of the respondents to the RFQ whose proposal was accepted by the review committee and HHSA Administration. The funding source for this project is 100% federally funded through the County’s allocation for CalFresh Administration. With this Agreement, HHSA will be able to take advantage of the local expertise and skills of the staff at North Coast Opportunities for the purposes of fulfilling the project goals of building a healthier community through increased access to nutritious food. The contract period is July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018.
