Summary of Request:
California senators are allowed to receive congressionally directed spending requests from their constituents for specific programs on a yearly basis. On March 11, 2024, Mendocino County submitted a request for fiscal year 2025 congressionally directed spending to Senator Butler. The request was for the construction of a new Mendocino County jail. Despite the County's best efforts to control expenses since the original 2017 budget was submitted for the jail expansion project, costs have increased significantly above the initially awarded grant. Therefore, additional funds are required to finish the project as planned. Due to time constraints, the request letter was submitted to Senator Butter prior to Board of Supervisors approval. As a result, the Executive Office is now seeking retroactive approval and ratification of submission of the letter.

Do not ratify letter of opposition and support.
