Summary of Request:
Zip Books is a popular state funded program that provides patrons with quick access to print books, large-type books, and audiobooks which may not be available through the library catalog. Books are purchased with the funding and mailed directly to the patrons from a vendor. The patrons then return the books to the library, allowing for most of the books to be added to the library’s collection and made available for others. Patrons look forward to this program every year.
The Library is requesting retroactive application submission approval for the Zip Books grant in the amount of $12,000, and per Policy No. 25, the CEO authorized the submission. The Zip Books program helps the County towards its goal of “an Effective County Government” by provided needed reading materials at no cost to the library and which can then be added to the library’s collection.
