Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
June 7, 2022, Item 3am), Approval of Agreement No. BOS-22-136.
Summary of Request:
Ukiah Neighbors ‘Vecinos’ in Action (UVA) is a committee made up of community members. UVA is taking necessary measures in matters that affect the Latino population, becoming a bridge between agencies and the community by serving as a platform for neutral information to build an environment of trust and positive relationships with other organizations serving the public.
In recent months UVA has proven successful in reaching the Latino community with accurate, accessible, and timely information during the COVID-19 Pandemic to improve the health and well-being of the Mendocino County community.
Through Agreement No. BOS-22-136, UVA expanded equitable communication efforts by: hosting educational forums and bilingual podcasts; and reporting via Periodico al Punto and the KZYX program “Mendo Latino” on topics including COVID, Mental Health Care, and Public Health topics of interest to the Latino Community. Additionally, UVA worked with a network of partners within the Latino Community, champions within neighborhoods, and key community leaders to analyze health inequities in the Latino Community, and provide effective feedback on solutions to implement county-wide.
The proposed Amendment to Agreement No. BOS-22-136 is being submitted to the Board of Supervisors for retroactive approval due to errors within the Payment Terms in the original Agreement that were not discovered until just before the original term expiration on May 31, 2023. Through the proposed Amendment, line item totals within the Payment Terms have been adjusted to reflect accurate amounts allocated, and the total amount available for services from UVA under Agreement No. BOS-22-136 has increased accordingly.
Alternative Action/Motion:
Return to staff for alternative handling.
