Summary of Request:
Since 2018, the California Overdose Prevention Network (COPN) has provided a statewide forum for coalitions, organizations, and individuals working to address the overdose crisis in California. COPN launched the Accelerator 7.0 Program to support local coalitions in increasing their impact through sustainability-focused overdose prevention efforts. This cohort cycle is focused on building adaptive leadership skills to better integrate overdose prevention activities with behavioral health services in your community. Participation in this program will support Mendocino County in taking a sustainability-based approach to overdose prevention.
Through a guided process, Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) will apply sustainability principles to expand and strengthen existing overdose prevention activities, including harm reduction, access to addiction treatment, and youth engagement. The program includes learning groups and technical assistance from subject matter experts, allowing BHRS to tailor the experience to meet the specific needs of the Mendocino County community.
BHRS prepared and submitted a grant application for the COPN Accelerator 7.0 Program to Public Health Institute on December 8, 2025 and is now seeking Board of Supervisors (BOS) ratification of the application submission and approval for the Health Services Director to execute the grant Agreement. Through the grant Agreement, BHRS will use funds to support the approved sustainability project planned for summer of 2026.
Due to time constraints, the grant application was submitted to Public Health Institute prior to BOS approval. BHRS is now seeking BOS ratification of the grant application, and authorization for the Health Services Director to execute the grant Agreement.
