Summary of Request:
The Homeland Security Grant is awarded on an annual basis. The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office manages the grant for the County. Expenditures under the grant are discussed and approve by the Mendocino County Gang of Five Committee. Purchases under the grant must promote public safety. The Unfilmed Omni VIII Aviation Grade White Phosphor Binoculars will be used by the County’s SWAT team as they respond to situations that endanger public safety. This purchase will be made under the 2018 Homeland Security Grant allocation. The grant requires that 25% of the award go towards law enforcement terrorism prevention activities and this purchase fulfills that requirement.
