Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
On January 8, 2019, the Board accepted the Director of Transportation’s Report, which included a 20-Year Maintenance Plan for the County’s Road System utilizing Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Account (RMRA) funds. This plan prioritized corrective and preventative maintenance in certain areas of the County each year. We are currently in Year 8 of this plan.
Summary of Request:
The Department of Transportation (DOT) will prepare and administer construction plans, specifications, estimates and contract documents for DOT contract number (No.) 260010 for the 2026 Corrective/Preventative Maintenance Project on various County Maintained Roads in the Caspar area at an estimated cost of $3,000,000. This project will preserve up to 23.2 miles of road surfaces within the Mendocino County Maintained Road System, at an estimated average cost of $101,450 per mile when completed. The County roads are: Caspar Road, County Road (CR) 569, from milepost (M.P.) 0.00 to M.P. 0.78; Caspar Street, CR 410E, from M.P. 0.00 to M.P. 0.23; Fern Creek Road, CR 411A, from M.P. 0.00 to M.P. 0.97; Caspar Little Lake Road, CR 409, from M.P. 0.00 to M.P. 3.30; Caspar Orchard Road, CR 410, from M.P. 0.00 to M.P. 0.95; Point Cabrillo Drive, CR 564, from M.P. 0.00 to M.P. 2.92; and Comptche Ukiah Road, CR 223, from M.P. 10.00 to M.P. 24.00. This project is to be funded through Senate Bill 1 (SB 1): The Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017, Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Account (RMRA) funds. The Department will not exceed funding available.
