Summary of Request:
On September 5, 2025, Health Services (HS) received an invitation to apply for the Clean California Community Cleanup and Employment Pathways Grant Program. For locally led litter abatement in local public rights-of-way that transform them into spaces the community can be proud of. Goals are to clean up litter/graffiti, reestablish native plants, and establish workforce pathways for vulnerable populations.
HS created the grant application for the Clean California Community Cleanup and Employment Pathways Grant Program, and submitted it to the California Department of Transportation (DOT) on November 3, 2025. Through the grant Agreement, HS will use funds to support individuals experiencing homelessness, provide education and job training, and repurpose sites to create public spaces for future use.
On February 24, 2026, the BOS approved submission of the grant application and authorized execution of the resulting grant Agreement. However, the project period dates identified in the original approval were updated in the revised Restricted Grant Agreement received by HS; therefore, HS is now seeking approval of the grant Agreement reflecting the correct project period through July 30, 2027, and Agreement term through November 30, 2027.
