Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
On December 3, 2024, the Board of Supervisors approved Agreement No. 24-201 with Kronick, Moskovitz, Tiedemann & Girard, a Professional Corporation in the amount of $200,000. On September 9, 2025, the Board of Supervisors approved First Amended Agreement No. 24-201-A1 with Kronick, Moskovitz, Tiedemann & Girard, a Professional Corporation in the amount of $300,000 for a new total of $600,000.
Summary of Request:
County Counsel provides legal representation, advice and counsel to the County, its governing Board of Supervisors, County Departments, various special districts, and other public agencies, as mandated and authorized by California statutes and local ordinances. The County has retained various outside law firms to represent the County in a variety of legal matters to provide specialized legal services and to defend and represent the County in complex litigation. The County is currently utilizing Kronick, Moskovitz, Tiedemann & Girard, A Professional Corporation (Firm) for litigation defense services with respect to filed actions. The Firm will continue to be assigned cases or claims based upon their proven legal ability and specific expertise with public entity representation. The Firm has provided excellent legal services for the County in connection with past litigation and understands the wide variety of legal issues that arise for small rural counties, including a partner from Mendocino County.
County Counsel is requesting the Board approve the second amendment to the agreement in the amount of $300,000 for a new total of $600,000. All legal services invoices will be reviewed by Risk for payment.
