Summary of Request:
Harwood Memorial Park DBA Laytonville Healthy Start provides important services for both the Community Services and Support (CSS) and the Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) subsections of the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA). Through the proposed Agreement, the CSS Laytonville Healthy Start program will provide valuable Outreach and Engagement to the community, helping individuals navigate mental illness, assessments, and referrals to other providers. This Outreach and Engagement is designed to help identify which services are needed and are appropriate for the individual, and to connect them with the mental health network of providers and Specialty Mental Health Services in Mendocino County. The PEI portion under the proposed Agreement includes prevention services such as general wellness classes, referral services, and general help for navigating systems such as benefit applications, education, and stigma reduction activities. Services available through the CSS and the PEI programs are sometimes the only accessible link to mental health services due to the geographic isolation experienced by Laytonville residents. These services are provided through MHSA and are part of the regulatory required programs that all counties must provide with MHSA funds. Services provided by Harwood Memorial Park DBA Laytonville Healthy Start in conjunction with other MHSA providers create a network of mental health services throughout Mendocino County.
