Summary of Request:
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) funds the Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health (MCAH) program of the Mendocino County Department of Public Health (MCPH), to support pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women, their children, and spouses. These funds enable the MCAH program to provide services to help parents and young children. Specifically, qualifying MCAH mother participants are eligible to receive nutrition education, preventing pre-term births, increasing breastfeeding support, and referrals to medical providers, medical and mental health services providers, and community services and resources. MCAH provides these supportive services through Community Health Workers who do in-person home visits throughout Mendocino County.
On June 1 ,2022, MCPH submitted an Agreement Funding Application (AFA) to CDPH for MCAH funding. On November 16, 2022, MCPH received the proposed Revenue Agreement No. 202223 from CDPH designating MCAH funding in the amount of $ 494,769.55. Funding from this Agreement is to support essential MCAH program services across Mendocino County for a one-year term, effective July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023.
Due to review and processing of the AFA at the State level, MCPH did not receive the approved budgets until August 2023, and is now seeking ratification of submission of the AFA and retroactive approval of the resulting Revenue Agreement No. 202223.
