Summary of Request:
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) released a Request for Application for the Children’s Dental Disease Prevention Program (Equipment Support and Referral Management/Care Coordination Tools) on March 3, 2021, for one-time additional funding of up to $25,000 to increase the County’s original Oral Health Agreement with CDPH (No. 17-10704 for $835,130). The goal of the funding is to increase the number of children receiving dental screenings and referrals. The additional funding for the program will be used to purchase hardware and software for the referral management tools, care coordination onboarding or technical support, and supplies for screenings related to school-linked dental programs. The Application deadline was April 21, 2021, with an anticipated award date of September 1, 2021.
The Mendocino County Oral Health Program requests Board ratification of submission of the application for up to $25,000 additional funding to provide access to dental services for children considered to be high-risk for tooth decay based on their socioeconomic status and limited access to dental services. Tooth decay is the most common chronic disease of childhood. Priority is given to underserved areas and populations throughout Mendocino County.
