Recommended Action/Motion:

recommendation

Approve request for appropriation, cancellation or revision of funds reappropriating ARPA funding for the purchase of twelve (12) 2025 Ford Police Interceptor Utility AWD vehicles for the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office in the amount of $632,066; add the vehicles to the County’s approved Fixed Asset list for FY2024-25; and authorize Chair to sign same.

End

Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:

The Board approved the FY2022-23 budget, of which included the approval to purchase the twelve (12) vehicles using ARPA funding. The vehicles were approved and included on the County’s list of fixed assets in FY2022-23.

Summary of Request

On August 29, 2022, the General Services Agency issued Request for Quotation (RFQ) 069-22 for the purchase of twelve (12) 2023 Ford Police Interceptor Utility AWDs on behalf of the Sheriff’s Office. Due to the closure of the successful bidder, Redwood Ford, the resulting purchase orders have not been fulfilled. Hansel Ford, in Santa Rosa, is willing to honor the same bid at less than Redwood Ford’s original prices for 2025 models. If the vehicles were to be competitively bid again, the costs would likely be significantly more due to inflation and the shortage of supply would hinder the purchase even further. With support from the Acting Auditor-Controller/Treasurer-Tax Collector, the Sheriff’s Office is requesting that the ARPA funds used for the original purchase orders be reappropriated for the purchase of the twelve (12) 2025 Ford Police Interceptor Utility AWDs from Hansel Ford during FY2024-25.
