Summary of Request:
On May 9, 2023, the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors executed Agreement No. BOS-23-065 with LACO Associates for disaster prevention, recovery, resiliency, and mitigation grant research and grant writing services. Through this Agreement LACO is expected to research the availability of federal, state, and private grant programs to identify potential funding sources, assist in assessing disaster-related unmet needs, plan related projects, and prepare and submit grant applications on behalf of Mendocino County. This Agreement is crucial to Mendocino County’s effort to secure and leverage grant funding for disaster recovery projects.
A few of the grants LACO prepared during Fiscal Year 2023/24 include:
• $10,000,000 - Community Wildfire Defense Grant, USDA Forest Service
• $1,102,781 - Wildfire Prevention Grant Program, CalFire
• $328,570 - Multi-Jurisdiction Hazard Mitigation Plan, CalOES
The proposed Amendment to Agreement No. BOS-23-065 increases funds available by $50,000, for a new total of $150,000. This additional $50,000 is needed for LACO to assist with the new Community Development Block Grant Notice of Funding Availability, and continued technical assistance to respond to Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Request for Information for the $50 million Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities grant project.
