February 27, 2024, Item 3(v), Approval of retroactive Agreement with Cal Poly Sponsored Programs Foundation in the Amount of $145,360, for the Behavioral Health Mentored Internship Program BOS 24-0250
Summary of Request:
The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) enacted a Behavioral Health Workforce Development (BHWD) program to address the critical shortage of Behavioral Health providers in the State. BHWD had Behavioral Health Mentored Internship Program (MIP) grant funds available to assist organizations in developing and implementing in-house mentored internship programs to assist in the treatment and recovery of patients with substance use disorders, mental health disorders, or co-occurring disorders.
On May 26, 2023, BHRS received a notice of preliminary award for continued participation in the MIP project, as a candidate for Round 2 with a period of performance from October 1, 2023, through December 31, 2024. BHRS continued our partnership with the Humboldt State University Social Work Program to give Mendocino County BHRS access to a pool of motivated individuals who would bring fresh thinking and innovation to the BHRS workplace. The program would also provide interns with the ability to train within a variety of programs, which would provide broad education and experience for future employment.
The proposed amendment to BOS Agreement #24-028 with Humboldt State University would allow for approved changes to grant expenditures to be reimbursed.
