Summary of Request

Anderson Valley Community Service District (AVCSD) (formerly known as Anderson Valley Ambulance Services (AVAS)) has requested that the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors and County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) (as required by Title 13, California Vehicle Code, section 12527(d)(2)) request exemption of certain “Ambulance Drivers” as outlined in Title 13, section 12527(d)(1) from the requirement of obtaining “emergency medical training” within one (1) year of being licensed to drive an ambulance. The request must be from both the County Board of Supervisors, and any one of the following: the Public Health Officer, The Emergency Medical Care Committee (EMCC), EMS Administrator or the EMS Coordinator.  Sonoma County will submit the second letter as the EMS Administrator.  This exemption is necessary due to the limited availability of volunteers wishing to provide donated time and/or service to the ambulance provider in anything other than a “driver” role.

As each driver must apply as an individual with their own letter(s), EMS will facilitate the distribution of the requests to the AVCSD manager rather than by separate requests from drivers wishing exemption.
