Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:

By Resolution Number (No.) 23-151 (August 29, 2023), the Board ratified the FAA grant for the design of the apron pavement rehabilitation. By Resolution No. 23-180 (November 7, 2023), the Board authorized the submission of a supplemental grant with Caltrans for the design of the apron rehabilitation.

Summary of Request

With consultant Mead & Hunt, DOT will prepare and administer construction plans, specifications, estimate, and contract documents for DOT Contract No. 250001 for the apron pavement reconstruction at Little River Airport. This project will include pulverization of the existing surface, building an engineered baserock section, and repaving, with improvements to surface drainage, pavement markings, and tie-down locations. The cost is estimated to be $2,282,000 with $125,510 in local match to be incurred between Fiscal Years (FY) 2024/25 and 2025/26. Once the FAA has given DOT permission to proceed with project advertisement we will advertise, and the official grant award will be issued after bids are received (if the bids are close enough to the estimate).  DOT is requesting authorization to advertise and award DOT Contract No. 250001 and for the Director of Transportation to act as the airport sponsor’s official representative and to execute the grant agreement and sign any other necessary related documents on behalf of Mendocino County if awarded.
