Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
On June 6, 2020, the Board approved First Amendment to Agreement No. JA-J19-012 with In-Custody Transportation, Inc. for $50,000 for a new contract total of $100,000 with a new term end date of June 30, 2021. On September 22, 2020, the Board approved a Second Amendment to Agreement No. JA-J19-012 for $50,000 for a new contract total of $150,000. On May 25, 2021, the Board approved a Third Amendment to Agreement No. JA-J19-012 for $30,000 for a new contract $180,000.
Summary of Request:
On March 18, 2021, the Sheriff’s Office released a Request for Proposal (RFP) number SO-014-21 for inmate transportation services. MCSO required a licensed and experienced vendor to fulfill court-ordered transports to the correctional and mental health facilities and execute intra- and interstate warrant pickups. In-Custody Transportation, Inc. is the highest-scoring bidder in that RFP.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, part of the warrant pickup journey was provided by a free shuttle service that drops off inmates along a route. That shuttle service is no longer available due to the risk of COVID-19 transmission. Until the shuttle service resumes, In-Custody Transportation, Inc. will provide private transportation for extradited inmates. The term of this Agreement shall be from July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2026.
Due to a change in the contract term, the Sheriff’s Office had to reroute the Agreement through the County review process. This change contributed to this Agreement being retroactive.
