Summary of Request

Merced County Juvenile Justice Correctional Complex is among a select number of probation departments that offer housing for secure track youth who cannot be housed at Mendocino County Juvenile Hall due to secure track youth population, services/programming available based on the needs of the juvenile, or age of juvenile to be placed.  Secure track youth are individuals whose care and custody has been realigned to local probation departments as a result of SB 823, who prior to SB 823, would have been sentenced to the care and custody of the Division of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) for the duration of their sentence.  It will also include youth currently serving sentences at DJJ who will be returned to the county upon closure of DJJ.  Merced County provides services for secure track youth with special programming/services needs.
