Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
On May 21, 2024, the Board of Supervisors directed staff to bring forward an item disbanding the Ad Hoc at the next available meeting.
Summary of Request:
Disband the Ad Hoc Committee that was formed on March 12, 2024, to work with County Counsel on a Transient Occupant Tax (TOT) increase of 2% dedicated to funding IHSS with a stipulation that the tax will be suspended if the State funds the program through other means; and look at ways to bring all County employees to a living wage using the MIT Living Wage Benchmark for Mendocino County per the ideas offered by Supervisor Gjerde. This item is a result of direction provided to staff by the Board of Supervisors on May 21, 2024 as part of the motion for item 4g titled “ Discussion and Possible Action Including Possible Direction to Staff Regarding Report of Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) Rates to Pay Increases to In Home Support Service Workers and Lifting All County Employees to a Living Wage”.
