Approve travel costs for Mendocino County Tobacco Commissioner Oropeza to be reimbursed for attending California Department of Public Health Capitol Information & Education Days from May 11 to May 12, 2026; and authorization for expenditure of conference registration, lodging, and per diem in the approximate amount of $736.60 to be reimbursed by California Department of Public Health through the Mendocino County Tobacco Prevention Program (CTPP).

Summary of Request

This request seeks Board approval for Chair of the Mendocino County Tobacco Prevention Coalition, Eliana Oropeza to be reimbursed for attending California Department of Public Health Capitol Information & Education Days (Capitol I&E Days) from May 11 to May 12, 2026.

 

Capitol I&E Days will be held in person in Sacramento, May 11 - 12, 2026 and participation is open to all CTPP-funded entities, coalition members, community groups and individuals and organizations working with CTPP-funded projects. 

 

All coalition members are deemed volunteers and serve without compensation; however, members may be reimbursed for pre-approved necessary travel expenses incurred in the performance of their duties on behalf of the coalition (e.g. attending a CTCP conference or costs associated with travel to Capitol Information & Education Days or Youth Quest in Sacramento).

 

The event offers key networking and advocacy opportunities on tobacco policy issues affecting Mendocino County.
