The Economic Development Division position was established by the Board of Supervisors on September 12, 2023, resolution number 24-0279 and a previous division report was presented to and accepted by the Board on February 27, 2024.
Summary of Request:
This report provides a summary of the economy in Mendocino County, current initiatives and actions taken by the Economic Development Division staff as guided by the Strategic Plan. Awareness of local, state and federal economic conditions also informs the priorities of division staff. The Economic Development Division works in three main areas of development: workforce development, technical assistance, and housing. This report is a summary of current economic conditions including population, unemployment rates, workforce statistics and division project assignments and initiatives including business technical assistance and liaison work, CA Jobs First and SMEDD updates.
