Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
The County regularly applies for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding. The Board approved the request for CDBG funds in 2012 and the funding application was approved by HCD under agreement 12-CDBG-8399.
Summary of Request:
The County of Mendocino was awarded $1,000,000.00 through agreement 12-CDBG-8399. During the term of the grant, the Board of Supervisors has approved the use of CDBG program income funds for eligible supplemental activities, which were in addition to those projects listed in the grant. The projects, programs, and activities completed under this grant include providing microenterprise technical assistance, direct homebuyers assistance, an economic development planning study, a housing condition planning study, ADA improvements to a ramp in the Town of Mendocino, acquisition of land and building with the rehabilitation of that building to be used as a homeless shelter, Willits Veteran Hall ADA accessibility improvements, Mill Creek Fishing Platform ADA improvements, and the Sun House Senior Apartments public improvements. CDBG funds have been used for the noted activities and a total of $982,311 in grant funds were disbursed, as well as a total of $1,952,819 in CDBG Program Income funds disbursed, as required by State policy (see Attachment A for details). The grant agreement between the County and HCD must now be closed in order to comply with State program requirements.
