Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
January 8, 2019 the Board accepted the DOT Director’s Report which included a 20-Year Maintenance Plan for the County’s publicly maintained roads. This plan prioritized corrective and preventative maintenance in certain areas each year. We are currently in Year 6 of this plan.
Summary of Request:
The Department of Transportation will prepare and administer construction plans, specifications, estimates, and contract documents for Department of Transportation (DOT) Contract Number (No.) 240002 for the 2024 Corrective/Preventative Maintenance Project on Mountain View Road, CR 510, M.P. 0.00 to 24.58 at an estimated cost of $7,400,000, depending on available funds. A portion of this project (estimated $5,400,000) is to be funded through Senate Bill 1 (SB 1): The Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017, and Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Account (RMRA) funds and will preserve up to 24.58 miles of road surfaces within the Mendocino County Maintained Road System, at an estimated average cost of $219,690 per mile when completed. An additional $2,000,000 may be funded through the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) and will include “3R” (resurfacing, restoration, and rehabilitation) work with asphalt overlays on sharp turns and steep grades and/or full depth reclamation (FDR). This portion of the project will only be awarded if the STIP funds are allocated in State Fiscal Year 2024/25. The Department will not exceed funding available.
