Summary of Request:
On June 20, 2023, Agreement No. BOS-23-098 was approved by the Board of Supervisors, for a multi-faceted project to implement roadside fuels reduction in key locations in the Covelo and Laytonville areas, complete CEQA analysis for five future fuels reduction projects to streamline and accelerate future implementation activities, and fund Mendocino County Fire Safe Council (MCFSC) and accelerate future implementation activities, and fund MCFSC existing Mendocino County Community Chipper Days program for an additional three years.
Through the proposed Amendment, MCFSC will continue to receive up to $1,182,600 of grant funds for: revised fuel reduction project management activities, removing specific Covelo site locations; revised CEQA Analysis for Future Projects, removing specific road names (Western Branscomb, Black Bart Trail, Redwood Ridge, Old River, and Western Hopland Shaded Fuel Break); and additional roadside fuel reduction on Branscomb Road starting at Laytonville and/or on Black Bart Trail, county-wide prescribed burn capacity enhancement, prevailing wage terms and conditions, and funding for an AmeriCorps/Grizzly Corps intern specializing in county-wide prescribed burn projects and community education, in compliance with a revised budget breakdown. Once executed, this Amendment is effective for the full term of the original Agreement No. BOS-23-098, from March 10, 2023 through March 15, 2026.
