Summary of Request:
The COVID-19 Mitigation Project (CMP) funding opportunity will prevent, prepare for, and respond to the COVID-19 public health emergency and ensure the continuity of services to support individuals connected to the behavioral health system. The project will particularly focus on people engaged in mental health or substance use disorder care, and unhoused individuals.
Through this funding opportunity, mental health and/or substance use disorder care providers will expand services to provide education on COVID-19 testing, implement on-site COVID-19 testing, collaborate with community partners to prevent infectious disease transmission, expand COVID-19 response services to those connected to the behavioral health system, and support the maintenance of healthy environments.
Mendocino County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) created the proposed grant application for CMP funds, submitted it to The Center at Sierra Health Foundation on May 29, 2024, and is now seeking Board of Supervisors ratification of application submission, and approval for the Director of Health Services to execute the grant Agreement, if awarded. Through the grant application, BHRS proposed using CMP funding to develop and create Covid Mitigation Training Tool Kits and materials for distribution to behavioral health, tribal behavioral health sites, homeless service providers, and supported housing sites for behavioral health clients, and conduct trainings for each agency receiving a tool kit. Through the resulting grant Agreement, BHRS will use CMP funding for the intended purpose, including the purchase of mitigation kit supplies (rapid tests, gloves, hand sanitizer, masks, thermometers, disinfectants, carry bags, etc.), and personal protective equipment such as gloves, masks, and protective clothing.
