recommendation

Introduce and waive first reading of an ordinance amending Section 15.12.040 of the Mendocino County Code - Parking, prohibiting parking on the westerly side of Evergreen Street (County Road 407P) from milepost 0.00 to 0.14 (Mendocino Area).

Summary of Request

Area residents and the Mendocino Fire Protection District are concerned with the lack of safe passage along Evergreen Street in Mendocino due to vehicles parking on both sides of the road and being unable to completely park off the pavement. A drainage ditch on the westerly side of the road makes it unsuitable for shoulder parking. Prohibiting parking on the entirety of the westerly side of Evergreen Street will allow clear passage to be enforced.

Alternative Action/Motion:

Do not amend the parking regulations and alternately enforce safe parking.
