Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:

On March 9, 2021, the Board of Supervisors, during the budget workshop, discussed obtaining input from Community and County Departments regarding priority projects within the County that could be funded by the PG&E Disaster Settlement Funds;                     

 

May 4, 2021, Item 5(d), the Board accepted a presentation by Redwood Valley-Calpella Fire District outlining requested projects to by funded with a portion of PG&E Disaster Settlement Funds;

 

August 17, 2021, Item 4(f), the Board accepted prioritized spend for projects utilizing PG&E Disaster Settlement Funds, including approval to award funds to Redwood Valley-Calpella Fire District in the amount of $20,000 for 2020 storm clean up, and $5,000 for community education;

 

August 16, 2022, Item 3(h), the Board approved reallocation of $25,000 of one-time Pacific Gas and Electric Disaster Settlement Funds, previously allocated as $20,000 for the 2020 storm clean up and $5,000 for community education, to the Lexipol program.

 

Summary of Request

On August 17, 2021, the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors (BOS) approved a Prioritized Spend related to projects for strategically investing one-time Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) Disaster Settlement Funds, and authorized the Assistant Chief Executive Officer to prepare and bring forward the necessary contracts for distribution of funds to non-county agencies. The Prioritized Spend outlined Redwood Valley- Calpella Fire District’s requests, which included $20,000 for 2020 storm clean up and $5,000 for community education.

 

Since August 17, 2021, Redwood Valley-Calpella Fire District determined some PG&E funding allocations would be better utilized for other purchases and projects, and on August 16, 2022, the BOS approved reallocation of $25,000 ($20,000 from the 2020 storm clean up and $5,000 from community education) for the Lexipol training program.

 

Pursuant to the proposed Agreement Redwood Valley-Calpella Fire District will contract with Lexipol LLC, for their policy and procedure research and writing, and on-line trainings for the volunteers, staff and Board of Directors. The grant funding will cover five years of the Lexipol Program, at $5,000 per year.
