Summary of Request

Redwood Community Services (RCS) will provide employment placement opportunities through a comprehensive and cohesive training program to develop or enhance employment skills of CalWORKs participants. This program includes subsidized employment for participants while they develop the skills and work history needed to obtain self-sufficiency through employment. In addition to receiving training with basic soft skills, participants will learn the specifics of the position they are hired for and develop the reference needed to move forward.

This agreement consolidates two smaller agreements with RCS from the previous year, allowing a more comprehensive application of the training program. Because services will be available at any identified RCS site, greater opportunities will be open for CalWORKs participants to be placed in positions consistent with their career goals.

Alternative Action/Motion:

Return to staff for alternative handling.
