Summary of Request:
In 1996, a group of volunteers in New Jersey started National Child Care Provider Day, a special day set aside to recognize child care providers, teachers, and other educators of young children everywhere. National Child Care Provider Day is celebrated each year on the Friday before Mother's Day.
In an effort to recognize the tireless efforts of providers who care for children of working parents in Mendocino County, the Local Child Care Development and Planning Council asks the Board of Supervisors to designate May 2026 as Early Education and Child Care Provider Appreciation Month.
