The Board of Supervisors approves and/or denies recommended appointments/reappointments regularly.
Summary of Request:
The Westport County Water District Board of Directors only has two (2) Directors at this time, and therefore does not have the minimum three (3) members required to constitute a quorum of the five (5) member body. This lack of members results in an inability for the Westport County Water District Board of Directors to meet and conduct their business. Pursuant to Government Code 1780(h)(1), “Notwithstanding any other provision of this section, if the number of remaining members of the district board falls below a quorum, then at the request of the district secretary or a remaining member of the District Board, the appropriate Board of Supervisors or the City Council shall promptly appoint a person to fill the vacancy, or may call an election to fill the vacancy”.
Clerk of the Board staff have received the listed applicants request letter and worked with the Registrar of Voters to verify voter status, determine the requested positions are currently vacant, and verify that the applicant fits the criteria for the requested positions.

Do not approve the listed appointments, or deny appointment of one or more of the applicants.
