Adopt Resolution authorizing the Public Defender to enter into retroactive Grant Agreement in the amount of $91,964.00 designated for the Public Defender and Alternate Public Defender, for the period of March 2, 2024 to March 1, 2025, pursuant to the Public Defense Pilot Program, Round 3, Funded through the State Budget Act of 2021 (Senate Bill 129) administered by the Board of Community Corrections, (BSCC); and authorize Chair to sign same.

Summary of Request:
The Public Defender requests approval pursuant to Mendocino County Policy #25 to sign the Retroactive Grant Agreement and accept the Grant funding for a grant pursuant to the Public Defense Pilot Grant, Round 3, that is administered by the Board of Community Corrections (BSCC).
There is no matching requirement on the part of Mendocino County and supplanting (i.e., appropriating grant funds for existing department purposes) is prohibited. The grant period is from March 2, 2024, to March 1, 2025. The amount approved for Mendocino County is a total of $91,964.00 designated for the Public Defender and the Alternate Public Defender.
There is no fiscal impact or obligation on the part of Mendocino County that would be incurred as a result of the acceptance of this funding.
