Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
On June 21, 2022, the Board of Supervisors adopted the Master Position Allocation Table for the FY 2022-2023 Budget, Resolution Number 22-149.
Summary of Request:
The Human Resources Department is charged, as part of the overall maintenance of the classification and compensation plan, to evaluate current classifications, create new classifications (including appropriate salary levels), reclassify positions, examine requests for salary grade adjustments, analyze allocations, and make recommendations for additions, modifications, and corrections.
At the request of the Sheriff’s Office, a classification study was conducted by Cooperative Personnel Services- HR with whom the County contracts. The work performed by incumbent in position number 4065 has evolved over time and taken on additional responsibilities. As a result of the study, a new job classification was created and the proposed new classification has the responsibility for performing a variety of complex, technical non-sworn work in support of the Criminal Investigations Unit, serving as the primary liaison for Coroner-related functions, providing support for Coroner related functions, and collecting and preserving evidence.
On December 14, 2022, the Civil Service Commission approved the new specification classification for Coroner Investigative Technician and authorized the reclassification of one (1) FTE from Sheriff’s Evidence Technician to Coroner Investigative Technician for position number 4065.
The impact shown below for this fiscal year reflects the approximate increase to Budget Unit 2310 at Step 5 and includes the cost of benefits. The annual recurring cost shown below is calculated at Step 5 including the cost of benefits.
