Summary of Request

The current spay and neuter vehicle is over 20 years of age, has older outdated veterinary equipment on board and has cost the County approximately $10,000 in repairs over the last several years.  Due to the size of the vehicle the County is not able to perform routine maintenance or repairs to the vehicle.  The new vehicle like the old vehicle would be maintained and serviced by a local vehicle repair business.  The new vehicle would be a drivable RV outfitted with a veterinary surgical suite, veterinary medical equipment, recovery kennels and generator.  The estimated cost would be approximately $200,000 to $225,000.  Animal Care Services will work with General Services to develop vehicle specifications and put out a bid and this item will return to the Board if necessary.
