Summary of Request

On June 10, 2025, the Fish and Game Commission held a traveling meeting in the City of Fort Bragg to discuss unhoused impacts along waterways in Mendocino County.  Several agencies participated in the discussion including the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, City of Fort Bragg Police Department and local community members.  After several hours of discussion, the Commission continued the item to the August 12, 2025 meeting.  During the August meeting, the Commission deduced that the greatest benefit from their research would be to submit the funding /grant opportunities to the Board of Supervisors for review as the overall impact from unhoused encampments is beyond the Commission’s scope and mission.  Please see attached letter from the Fish and Game Commission, signed by Vice Chair Madigan, as well as the handouts related to funding opportunities in the County.

Alternative Action/Motion:

Do not accept the report and provide direction to staff.
