Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:

On June 3, 2025, the Board ratified the submission of grant application for the Northern California Coalition to Safeguard Communities Program in the amount of $254,716 for the period of August 1, 2025, through July 31, 2026; and authorize the Sheriff to accept the funds and sign the resulting revenue Agreement if awarded.

Summary of Request:

The Sheriff’s Office has partnered with Humboldt, Siskiyou, Lake, and Trinity counties to establish the Northern California Coalition to Safeguard Communities Program (NCCSC). The Center to Combat Human Trafficking recognizes that law enforcement agencies in Northern California do not have adequate financial resources to independently address criminal activity by drug trafficking organizations. The Center to Combat Human Trafficking, through the NCCSC, has provided financial and technical assistance needed to continue to support these agencies.

The awarded amount is $364,959 for the period of August 1, 2026, through July 31, 2027. These funds will be used to provide staff to help combat human trafficking, and additionally provide related equipment, materials, and technology to further that goal.
