Provide Direction to Staff on the development and adoption of an Ordinance establishing a Chapter 9.30 regulating the cultivation of recreational cannabis pursuant to Proposition 64 and possible corresponding Changes to County Code Chapter 9.31.

Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:

In 2016, the Board adopted Ordinance No. 4356, making certain changes to the County’s medical marijuana cultivation ordinance (Chapter 9.31).

 

Summary of Request

Staff seeks direction related to establishing an ordinance placing limits on the cultivation of recreational marijuana under Proposition 64.  Limits could include a 6 plant cultivation limitation and setbacks similar to those under the County’s existing Chapter 9.31.  Staff also seeks direction on how cultivators of medical marijuana may cultivate recreational cannabis pursuant to Proposition 64.
