Summary of Request:
The state legislature has enacted into law SB 1029 (McGuire) which provides for the dissolution of the North Coast Railroad Authority (NCRA) and mandates the State to assess the suitability of currently unused portions of the right-of-way for railbanking and ultimately for construction of the Great Redwood Trail. Supervisors McCowen and Haschak are Mendocino County representatives to NCRA which has begun the discussion of railbanking and conversion of the right-of-way to a trail. Supervisors McCowen and Haschak request approval of the attached resolution and direction to staff to transmit it to Senator McGuire’s office.
