Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
Approval of BOS Agreement #22-0477 on April 5, 2022, Cooperative Agreement with the California Department of Food and Agriculture providing reimbursement for High Risk Program activities.
Summary of Request:
This is a retroactive agreement with CDFA that provides reimbursement for Nursery Program activities performed by County Staff for the term of July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023. Due to the State getting this contract to the department in August 2022 this contract is now retroactive even though County Staff has been doing work. One of the most common ways invasive pests spread is through the movement of nursery stock. The main purpose of the Nursery Program is to help stop or slow down the spread of invasive pests throughout California and the United States. This is achieved by annual inspections of production nurseries by county biologists throughout the state.
Alternative Action/Motion:
Deny approval of agreement and pay for required Nursery Inspection activities with County General Fund
