Summary of Request:
Pursuant to California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) requirements, an Initial Study has been completed for the Reynolds Highway Bridge Replacement Project over Outlet Creek. The study supports the adoption of a Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND). In compliance with CEQA requirements, the MND was posted with the State Clearinghouse for a 30-day review period by state resource agencies, and concurrently with the Mendocino County Clerk for a 30-day review period by members of the public. DOT received no comments during the 30-day review period. A public hearing has been scheduled for October 6, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., or as soon thereafter as the item may be heard, to present the findings of the Initial Study and to hear and consider any comments or concerns of the public, prior to adoption of the applicable Mitigated Negative Declaration. The estimated total cost of the project is $5,061,000. Project funding is primarily through the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Bridge Program (HBP) (88.53%) with the local match provided through Toll Credits (11.47%).
Alternative Action/Motion:
Postpone the public hearing and delay the project.
