Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
On June 23, 2024, the Board of Supervisors adopted the Master Position Allocation Table for the FY 2024-2025 Budget, Resolution Number 24-098.
Summary of Request:
The Human Resources Department is charged, as part of the overall maintenance of the classification and compensation plan, to evaluate current classifications, create new classifications (including appropriate salary levels), reclassify positions, examine requests for salary grade adjustments, analyze allocations, and make recommendations for additions, modifications, and corrections.
At its meeting on May 21, 2025, the Civil Service Commission approved the modifications to the classification specifications, including the retitling “Sheriff’s Evidence Unit Supervisor” and “Sheriff’s EvidenceTechnician” to “Sheriff’s Property Room Supervisor” and “Sheriff’s Property Room Technician,” respectively.
The Human Resources Department, in coordination with the Sheriff’s Department, recommends the Board adopt the updated classification titles and reclassify the current incumbents. The revised titles more accurately reflect the nature and location of the work performed.
The County has fulfilled its obligations with the affected bargaining units as required by Meyers-Milias-Brown Act (MMBA).
This action has no fiscal impact, as it involves only title changes and reclassification of existing positions.
Alternative Action/Motion:
Do not adopt recommendation and direct staff.
