Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
By Minute Order (September 18, 2001), the Board approved Board of Supervisors (BOS) Agreement Number (No.) 01-252 / Department of Transportation (DOT) Agreement No. 000101.
Summary of Request:
Since 2001, Mendocino County has leased a portion of land on the Little River Airport to Albion-Little River Fire Protection District (ALRFPD) at a rate of $1.00 per year for the purposes of maintaining a firehouse and picnic area for their annual fundraising barbeque. The twenty-year lease will expire on January 1, 2021, but includes a provision allowing the agreement to be extended, by amendment, in ten (10) year increments upon mutual consent of both parties. DOT and ALRFPD agree the location of the firehouse at Little River Airport has worked well over the life of the lease and provides mutual benefit for both parties. ALRFPD has requested the boundaries of the area designated as the “firehouse site” within the leased portion of airport lands be amended slightly to accommodate a new structure to store additional firefighting equipment and an amended “Exhibit A” has been prepared to accompany the amendment. Additionally, County Risk Management has reviewed the lease and requested the required insurance coverage by ALRFPD be increased to $2,000,000. DOT recommends and requests the Board adopt the resolution approving Amendment No. 1 to BOS Agreement No. 01-252/DOT Agreement No. 000101, which extends the expiration date of the lease from January 1, 2021 to January 1, 2031, and makes the modifications outlined above.
Alternative Action/Motion:
Do not approve Amendment No. 1 to BOS Agreement No. 01-252/DOT Agreement No. 000101.
