Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
On April 25, 2023, The Board of Supervisors accepted the Mendocino County Juvenile Justice Plan (MCJJP) dated March 24, 2023, developed and approved by the Juvenile Justice Coordinating Council, which represents Mendocino County’s Comprehensive Juvenile Justice Plan (CMJJP) and approved the Juvenile Justice Crime Prevention Act (JJCPA) budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2023-24.
On April 24, 2024, the Board of Supervisors accepted the JJCPA budget for FY 2024-25.
Summary of Request:
On or before October 1st of each year, each county is required to submit to the Office of Youth and Community Restoration (OYCR) a report on its Juvenile Justice Crime Prevention Act (JJCPA) and Youthful Offender Block Grant (YOBG) programs during the preceding year. For JJCPA, this requirement can be found at Government Code (GC) 30061(b)(4)(C) and for YOBG it can be found at Welfare & Institutions Code (WIC) 1961(c). These code sections both call for a consolidated report form that includes a description of the programs and other activities supported by JJCPA and/or YOBG funds, an accounting of all JJCPA and YOBG expenditures during the prior fiscal year, and countywide juvenile justice trend data.
On September 20, 2024, the Juvenile Justice Coordinating Council (JJCC) met to review the required annual reporting. The JJCC approved the report to be submitted to the OYCR and for submission of the report as an informational item to the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors.
Also on September 20, 2024, the JJCC voted to approve the amendment of the JJCPA budget for FY2024-25 to include expenditures for: 1) Cost of GREAT (Gang Resistance Education and Training) Certification Training for one (1) Ukiah Police Department staff in the amount of $1,909.39; and 2) Cost to support Mendocino County Office of Education’s Homeless Youth Services Snack Pack Program in an amount not to exceed $50,000 for the fiscal year.
