Summary of Request

The Mendocino County Board of Supervisors is being asked to adopt a proclamation recognizing the 50th anniversary of the Mendocino Land Trust and declaring June 20, 2026, as Mendocino Land Trust Day.

Founded in 1976, the Mendocino Land Trust has spent five decades conserving open space, working lands, natural habitats, and public access opportunities throughout Mendocino County. The organization has conserved over 40,000 acres, opened multiple public preserves, developed miles of public trails, and supported habitat restoration projects benefiting wildlife, coastal ecosystems, and salmon recovery efforts.

The proclamation recognizes the longstanding contributions of the Mendocino Land Trust, as well as the volunteers, Board members, staff, and community supporters who have contributed to the preservation and stewardship of Mendocino County’s natural resources and public access opportunities.

Adoption of the proclamation is ceremonial in nature and does not have fiscal impact.
